Martin Drost develops the app and the technology behind it. New features, the Android version, analytics, and the systems behind the pilots and research: much of what Freequency does under the hood was built by Martin. It is work you rarely see as a user, and that is exactly the point. When the technology stands out, something is usually wrong. Martin is the kind of developer who would rather solve a problem before anyone has noticed it.

A large part of that work is in the app itself. When Jeffrey has worked out a new activity, Martin makes sure it actually works: on old and new devices, with a good and a bad connection, and without draining the battery. The Android version is an important part of that. Freequency should be available to everyone, and that means the app has to run just as well on both platforms.

Martin also builds the systems that make the pilots and the research possible. Hospitals and clinics that work with Freequency need insight into how their patients use the app. Researchers need reliable data to draw conclusions. Martin makes sure that information is collected safely and reaches the people who need it, without compromising the privacy of users. Every system is built with one question in mind: who is allowed to see the data, and who is not.

Analytics helps the team understand what happens in the app. Which exercises are done most, where people stop, and what works better than expected. Martin makes those insights visible, so that decisions about the app are not made on gut feeling, but on what users actually do. New questions come up every week, and every week there are new answers. Quiet, reliable, and always in the background, exactly the way good technology should be.
